Choose the correct production layer

XBRL conversion vs EDGAR HTML conversion

Separate Word-to-HTML presentation work from XBRL conversion, iXBRL tagging services, taxonomy review and complete-package validation.

Illustrative controlled document production layers

The same word can describe different work

Buyers sometimes use XBRL conversion when they mean a tagged financial-reporting package, while another buyer may only need document conversion before a tagging team begins. Ask for the actual required output. The term alone is not an adequate scope instruction.

EDGAR HTML conversion reconstructs approved human-readable disclosure and referenced assets. XBRL/iXBRL production represents facts with concepts, entity/period contexts, units, dimensions, transformations and relationships. Human-readable presentation and structured meaning both require reconciliation, but they are different responsibilities.

A fact is more than a highlighted number

The displayed amount must be linked to the right concept, context, unit, sign, scale and precision. The unit ID is a local label, not proof of its measurement. A namespace date is not the same as the fact’s reporting date. Text-block boundaries, hidden facts, continuations and inconsistent duplicate facts also need review.

A valid tag can encode the wrong meaning. Qualified accounting/taxonomy review is needed for concept selection, dimensions and extensions. Do not treat automatic wrapping of visible numbers as a complete iXBRL tagging service.

What to ask a tagging provider

  • Which form and accepted taxonomy are supported?
  • Who reviews the approved fact map and accounting meaning?
  • Are contexts, units, dimensions, linkbases and companions included?
  • How are extracted values reconciled to approved source?
  • Which validator configuration, findings and warning dispositions are retained?
  • Who owns TEST, LIVE authority and acceptance handling?

Compare iXBRL tagging services on the complete review/output layer, not on tag count or a screenshot of a clean validator.

The service boundary on this website

This website offers conditional, separately scoped supervised assistance—not unrestricted expert tagging for all forms. Availability depends on competence, approved tooling, a complete package and a named qualified reviewer. Source conversion can proceed as its own module while a specialist partner retains taxonomy review.

Official TEST processing and final approval belong to the authorized workflow. SEC acceptance does not establish that every accounting or tagging choice is substantively correct.
