Define what financial typesetting means for this job
Financial typesetting is not a single universal deliverable. A financial printer may need an editable manuscript; a filing team may need EDGAR HTML; a reporting team may need a reconstructed drafting copy. Agree the specific output before transferring the source or comparing prices.
This scope covers instructed document presentation and source preparation: Word styles, headings, lists, financial tables, notes, page references and assets. It does not include print manufacturing, legal drafting, accounting-policy decisions or unreviewed taxonomy selection. Final disclosure remains controlled by the authorized content owner.
Build useful editable source
Apply an agreed style map rather than manual spacing alone. Reconstruct table rows, columns, merged-cell relationships and footnotes so the next production operator can edit them predictably. Preserve source emphasis and reading order, and inspect headers, footers, fields and text boxes that a simple paragraph extraction can miss.
For Excel, verify displayed approved values, units, signs and periods. Do not assume hidden worksheets or calculated values are final disclosure. For a born-digital PDF, request editable source where possible; if rebuilding is required, reconcile every affected number and table relationship. Scanned/OCR material needs separate effort and full human checks.
Proofs, revisions and source issues
Return the agreed editable document with a source issue log and approved formatting-change summary. Record unresolved comments, conflicting versions, blanks and broken page references. The client decides content/redline disposition; production must not silently choose wording.
A revision batch needs one authorized instruction stream, a new version, an impacted-section comparison and an updated proof. If the requested change affects a downstream HTML or tagged package, notify the operator responsible for that layer. An editable source is a handoff input, not evidence of completed filing acceptance.
What a pilot can demonstrate
- A public/synthetic financial table or short approved excerpt.
- Editable rows, columns, styles and footnotes.
- Source-to-output text and numeric reconciliation.
- One correction round with versioned evidence.
- Measured effort and documented open questions.
Use that evidence to agree recurring scope and platform compatibility. Do not infer full annual-report or tagging capacity from a small formatting sample.
